    康豹 (Paul R. Katz) 美國普林斯頓大學東亞系博士,曾經在國立中正大學與國立中央大學擔任過副教授和教授。目前為中央研究院近代史研究所特聘研究員,並擔任蔣經國國際學術交流基金會研究室主任。他的研究主要集中在近代中國和台灣的宗教社會史,以跨學科的方法綜合歷史文獻和田野調查。 於碩士班修業期間,習得民間文學研究的理論與方法,並曾在2011~2013年間參與「花蓮地區地方風物傳說采集與考察」國科會(今科技部)專題計畫,透過實地田野調查及親身訪談,深刻體認到流傳於臺灣民間的傳說故事,皆蘊含著人民的智慧與情感,遂決定於熟悉的家鄉進行民間文學研究。
